My daughter wants an American Girl Doll with brown hair and blue eyes.

The daughter (age 15) of a dear friend would like to "give" her Samantha to us. She would like for her doll to go to someone she knows.

TLC Doll Hospital in Colorado has not responded to my multiple e-mails requesting an estimate to change out the eyes. (My friend agreed to this.)

Call me crazy, but I really don't want to buy a new or even a used doll when this one is available for us.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi -

And welcome to HB!

As far as I know (someone else posted something about this), the TLC Doll Hospital has to have "donor" eyes in order to switch out eyes for you--the AG eyes are specific to those dolls only. So you would have to have a set of blue eyes from a "donor" to make your plan work. So by the time you paid the doll hospital, along with paying for donor eyes (which would probably entail buying a fixer upper doll), you would come out better starting from scratch and buying a pre-loved or new blue-eyed brown haired doll.

And Molly's eyes are not blue, they are much more a blue-grey color. If your daughter definitely wants a blue eyed brown haired doll, she needs to look at the "Just Like You" (AGOT) dolls.

And, if your daughter wants to braid the doll's hair like Molly's, it won't work with Sam's wig. Molly's wig is cut with shorter hairs in the middle to cover the "part" when her hair is braided.

Linda

Actually, my daughter's eyes are blue-grey, which is why she wants her dolls eyes to be the same. The unique eye size is new information. Thank you.

I believe an eye transplant would be costly besides the cost of getting some blu-gray AG eyes.
Molly dolls go for a reasonable price on eBay. Be sure to ask a lot of questions about the doll before bidding, if you do go this route.
Hope you find just the right doll for your dd. Samantha is a beautiful doll, how about a doll for Mom!
